Gary Robertson, as Mark Twain, entertained Ford’s Colony Friends and Neighbors
Club members at its February meeting.
Samuel Clemens, whose pen name was Mark Twain, has a very high place on any list
of great Americans, and in his day he was the most well-known American in the
world. Despite having limited formal education, he became one of our country’s
greatest authors-William Faulkner called him the “father of American
Literature”. But his skill as a lecturer was perhaps the biggest reason for his
fame. His humor, wit, and wisdom mesmerized audiences. Gary Robertson not only
brought the skills and personality of the “Greatest American Humorist” to life,
but discussed key elements that marked this truly remarkable life.
